First Group Session
Posted 25th September 2022
We had our first Group Session at Lancashire HP. These can be quite nervous affairs as everyone is still getting to know each other. Despite this the group all got stuck in and were working together.
We did a practical session with 3 activities. A shape activity, Pinata's and making a vehicle that can go on both land and water.
For the shape activity the team worked together to assemble shapes together which involved communicating to move parts of shapes around.
Then there was a Pinata activity-Who doesn't love a Pinata? Unfortunately these were a bit tougher than we expected and it looked like the end of the Pinocchio scene at Pleasure Island when the Donkeys came out.
Then finally there was a crafting challenge that tested the Young People's abilities to work as a team. They had to make a vehicles that would move on land and in water. The staff team had been working hard for the previous couple of days to set this up beforehand. This meant eating large amounts of ice cream from a couple of tubs to make our car boats. The struggles that we make to help Young People.....
And it worked. The Teams made two vehicles that could tackle all the weather Lancashire has to offer.

Even though Sue is fully in control of this decision-making process - something our young people often are not - the transition has still been discombobulating; letting go of something she enjoys and that has defined her, and moving on to something that will be incredibly rewarding and joyous.
